About Health and Motion Massage Therapy
Health and Motion Massage Therapy, owned and operated by Heather Roberts, Registered Massage Therapist. Heather has been providing professional, client-centered Registered Massage Therapy for nearly 16 years. She is proud to offer her knowledge and skills to Terrace and the surrounding areas, and is fully committed to your health.
Heather opened her massage practice in 2005, after moving to Terrace BC. At that time, she worked part-time from her dedicated treatment room in her home, and from Sante Skin & Laser Clinic. When Sante Skin & Laser Clinic opened up a neighboring business, Studio 3 Spa, Heather joined their team and remained with them for over 12 years, where she built a loyal and dedicated client base.
Heather recently joined the amazing team at Cedar River Physiotherapy part-time, and plans to see more clients from her home practice, offering flexible and convenient appointments, that many working people have come to know and love.
Heather is passionate about living in beautiful Terrace BC and running her Massage Therapy practice, helping people keep up a healthy lifestyle. There was a time though, when she lived a colourful life of travel, practicing Massage Therapy and working for Wind Star Cruise Lines after passing her board exams. She learned a lot about her self and life during her 2 year exotic adventure through the South Pacific, Central America, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.
"My favourite thing was going to sleep in one place and waking up in another. On the other hand, my least favourite thing was probably the lockers, bunk beds and mini bathrooms, they get old."
She estimates during this time on her own at sea, she grew up a lot, even more than the time she spent being away from school. Out of 24 months, she was at sea for 19.5, that's a long time away from family. But Heather would recommend working and traveling to any person, as it was a great learning experience, looks great on a résumé, and she finds it has added an interesting topic of conversation with clients who have traveled.
Heather studied at Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy from 1999-2002. During Heather's studies, she learned advanced, science-based techniques for massage therapy treatments, foundational Swedish, and non-Swedish massage. She also received a well-rounded understanding of tissue healing and the inflammatory process, and treatment techniques for general orthopedic soft tissue conditions. Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy had the honour of being named the first Nationally Accredited Massage Therapy program in Canada!
“I always look forward to visits with Heather. She is great at what she does. Even better she works around my work schedule and I am able to go in the evenings which is super convenient and hard to find! I’d recommend her in a heart beat!”
